User reviews
This is available on cassette as well. I found tape 2, not sure if there are more than 2.
I'm going to be honest: I'm MUCH more into proper rudeboy wheel-up-and-come-again-my-selector jungle - i.e., the stuff which may be derided as "unintelligent" by those who prefer so-called "intelligent" drum & bass :)

So I shouldn't be that keen on this compilation, as there's not really any jungle on it: it's nearly all pure drum & bass, and it's mostly quite "intelligent" D&B as well.

But it doesn't matter: I'm not just into the earlier styles like ragga jungle, I like a lot of the later styles as well, intelligent or not :)

And there is so much quality on here, so how could I complain? There are no bad tracks on here, and they appear to be mostly full versions as well, which makes a change from all the "let's fit 20 tracks on a CD" compilations from the same era.

It feels similar to the later "Drum & Bass Muzik Classics" compilation, and is of similar quality.

Anyway, I own dozens of jungle/d&b compilations, and this is definitely one of the better ones, and is highly recommended.
I have this sitting in my collection, I picked it up in a local second hand record shop in the early 2000s it was a great purchase. There was all in all about 4 cd's of this? maybe these were sold seperately back in the day but when I got them they were all bundled together, anyway I agree with the other reviewer that is shows off more of the early drum n bass scene with the tell tale jungle twang still oozing out. You won't be disappointed! if you love your old skool DnB/Jungle then you will love this.
Though not being a Jungle/D&B specialist, I like the genre and, once in a while, buy some stuff, especially compilations, as starters/appetizers, beginner's guide. Like this one. I had few 'risks'/there was few chance I was deceived. This was not the case. A very, VERY good compilation. Hence, I definitely agree with the former review. With a few additions: I think it is rather a Drum'n'Bass compilation than a 'Jungle' one, for it features tracks that are and represent more the evolution of the original genre, i.e. Drum'N'Bass, with the exception of Goldie 'Inner City Life', a timeless Jungle classics. And some Fabio and Grooverider's tracks/remixes would have been more than welcome. Still, much worth the purchase.

Besides, the mix-CD is very, very, very very good.
Tracks 1-11 and 2-11 are by Sub Sequence and were released on their Tooz Up label. The bonus mix by JMJ from EZ Rollers is a very good selection of tracks from the set itself. His mixing is musical but he also manages to keep the energy levels up. For me, one of the better mixes of musical D&B available.

Although I haven't listened to this for years, just looking at the tracklisting reminded me what a great cd this is. You have a few well known classics that have been released countless times on compilations, but the reasons to buy are elsewhere. Tunes such as 'Passin' Groove' by Perfect Combination (a tune that I have never ever seen on vinyl anywhere!), 'Smooth Note' by Jason Mouse and 'Jazz Creation' by Universal Flava (Stakka, K-Tee and Deep Rooted in gorgeous jazzy D&B shocker!) are classics of the genre that, but for the cruel hand of fate, might be more well known today. Infact, I can't remember a single duff track on this collection, with most of the lesser known tunes being biggish around 95-96 and probably unavailable on cd anywhere else.

Definitely one of the better D&B compilations from back in the day, and much better than This is Drum and Bass 1 & 2 released by the same people around 97-98.
