Swimming is the fifth studio album by American rapper Mac Miller and the last album during his lifetime. It was released on August 3, 2018, by REMember Music and Warner Bros. Production on the album was handled by Miller himself under the pseudonym Larry Fisherman, as well as Dev Hynes, J. Cole, Dâm-Funk, DJ Dahi, Tae Beast, Flying Lotus and Cardo, among others. Swimming is Mac Millers fifth studio album and the follow-up to his 2016 LP, The Divine Feminine. It is also the last album released during his lifetime, as Mac passed away on September 7, 2018. Macs break up with singer Ariana Grande and his 2018 DUI arrest serve as inspiration for the albums thematic structure and swimming metaphor. Rather than drowning in his perennial struggles and broken heart, Mac is trying to swim to shore. Throughout the album, Mac explores the conflict between his struggles and a newfound sense of positivity and optimism. Swimming details Macs life experiences s. With his fifth album Swimming, Mac Miller has finally abandoned his frat-rap reputation for good. Sonically, its a continuation of 2016s The Divine Feminine, with a silky, deep vibe redolent of the L. alternative soul scene. But while that album tried to create a romantic vibe and mostly ended up vague and unfocused - with the single Dang a terrific exception - the emotional stakes seem higher on Swimming, which he assembled with help from onetime Kanye West collaborator Jon Brion. On his wounded fifth album, Mac Miller sings deftly about heartbreak and his mental state, capturing his resignation without turning sadness into a performative spectacle. I know I probably need to do better, fuck whoever, keep my shit together, he ambles over an aloof beat on Smaller Worlds. On Whats the Use, he shrugs off his foibles over some buoyant roller-disco, accompanied by low-key vocal assists from Snoop Dogg and Thundercat. A year later, Mac Miller moved to New York and cleaned up after signing a 10 million dollar deal with Warner Bros. His first project on a major was GO:OD AM, a definitely more optimistic and positive turn. Aint saying that Im sober, Im just in a better place Im on my way over, Im just running kind of late. Swimming ends putting together all the pieces of a puzzle built to reach happiness. It wasnt conceived as a concept album, but in a sense it became so after September 7th. He should have promoted it on tour with Thundercat, . and a superband, but an umpteenth solitary trip became his last one. Mac's best lyrical qualities are showcased on Small Worlds, a track that finds the 26-year-old spitting about fame. It's a little bit like Success, Jay-Z's American Gangster collaboration with Nas, but in fitting with the tone of Swimming , it's much more melancholy. I know I probably need to do better, fuck whoeverKeep my shit togetherYou never told me being rich was so lonelyNobody know me, oh wellHard to complain from this five-star hotel, Mac spits, calmly riding the smooth Carter Lang and Tae Beast-produced beat. Today, XXL takes a deep-dive into the best lyrics from Mac Miller's Swimming album. Come Back to Earth. Mac Miller

Surprisingly good pressing. Both LPs are flat and it plays very well. No complaints other than a flimsy sleeve.
Great sounding record. Basically no surface noise or pops. Music is very full, and bass sounds great to me. All this without deep cleaning the record, mind you, just rolling off the surface with my Vinyl Buddy. Glad they did this one justice, one of the better sounding records in my collection.
This is actually a 2LP set, not a single disc. Great sounding pressing, very crisp and clear.
