Creedence Clearwater Revival often referred to as Creedence or CCR was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s which consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, his brother rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. These members played together since 1959, first as The Blue Velvets, then as The Golliwogs. Their musical style encompassed the roots rock, swamp rock, and blues rock genres. Learn more. Recent Listening Trend. In August 1970, Creedence Clearwater Revival started a nine-week run at No. 1 on the US album chart with their fifth studio album, Cosmos Factory, named after the warehouse in Berkeley, California, where the band rehearsed. Bandleader John Fogerty was so insistent on practising almost daily that drummer Doug Cosmo Clifford began referring to the place as the factory. They released their fourth studio album, Willy And The Poor Boys in December 1969, seeing it peak at 3 in the Billboard album chart, where it stayed for 60 weeks, going double platinum in the process. Willy and the Poor Boys is the fourth studio album by Creedence Clearwater Revival, released by Fantasy Records in November 1969, and was the last of three studio albums that the band released in that year. The album was remastered and reissued on 180 Gram Vinyl by Analogue Productions in 2006. The album features the songs Down on the Corner, from which the album got its name, and Fortunate Son, which is a well known protest song. Cosmos Factory was the fifth album released by CCR and the first in 1970. It was a follow-up to the immensely successful Green River and Willy and the Poor Boys and it was hard to not expect a bit of a let-down. What the band delivered, however, was anything but. Cosmos factory contained six singles that rose to the top five or higher on the pop charts. The album also saw 7 of its 11 tracks make it on to Chronicle, CCRs best of album. It also contained the most glaring omission. The albums title comes from what drummer Doug Cosmo Clifford called the warehouse space the. Listen album. Classic Rock.
