Antonius Rex was an Italian progressive rock band founded in 1974 in Milan by Antonio Bartoccetti. It is the same band as Jacula with a different name. Jacula formed in 1968 and released its debut album, In Cauda Semper Stat Venenum, in 1969. After the release of the 1972 album Tardo Pede In Magiam Versus, the band split up. Bandleader Bartoccetti then formed Antonius Rex in 1974 with new members, releasing eight albums under this name. Antonius Rex is an Italian dark progressive rock band from the 70s, still active, formerly known as Jacula. Zora is a music album by Antonius Rex released in 1977. Zora is ranked 76,183rd in the overall chart, 7,224th in the 1970s, and 736th in the year 1977. This album is rated in the top 15 of all albums on . I was drawn to the Frazetta-like cover art, which apparently caused a stir when it was originally released. Zora is a pretty spooky, very avant-garde album. The lyrics are in Italian, so I have no idea whats going on, but if the creepy atmospherics and haunting church organ sound are any indication, this is roughly analogous to the early occult-themed albums by Black Widow. I really enjoy this album, though Antonius Rex is pretty out there by most progressive rock standards. Still, if youre a prog fan with a thing for darker themes and music, you should check out this obscurity. ANTONIUS REX is a Rock Progressivo Italiano, Progressive Rock artist from Italy. Probably the most charismatic figure of all the Italian prog scene, Antonio Bartoccetti Antonius Rex began his career going to Milan from the Marche, forming Jacula, Dietro Noi Deserto even with a single on Decca in 1971, and Invisible Force another lonely single in 1971.
